Knowledge, Space & Power attempts to update existing theory regarding these terms through the lens of life in America's public and low-income housing communities, aiming to create fully encompassing definitions or ideas not be set in stone but that may be updated continually as times change. KSP is completely written and designed by myself. THIS PROJECT WAS DONE FOR MY SENIOR CAPSTONE AT AMERICAN UNIVERSITY.
Initially, I thought of taking clean stock like photos of the work but that was not the point nor theme. I wanted to create that piece you see on your city floor, posted on your train or bus,  or even on yourcampus desks that caught your eye and drew you in so I wanted the condition in the pictures to reflect.
The booklet can also be viewed on issuu below.

A key topic in the book is the surveillance of the black body, which I wanted to display on the cover, in order to present and connect to one of the booklet's more important points. The image is split, from right to left, right being an old portrait of a child slave with his overseer and the left is an African-American teenager being arrested by 5 NYPD officers at a protest. I wanted to force the reader to look between the lines and think before opening the booklet, and hopefully make an initial connection.
This section is about the origins of segregation in the United States through the avenue of public housing. I wanted the booklet to flow in a space between a normal scholarly publication but more or less have the feel of a popular magazine. This section lays the foundation with a simple style and layout, including a collage to display the locations the book analyzes.
